The PB Arts Center Community Mural Project
Hilary Dufour generously volunteered her artistic talents, helping our community transform a simple shipping container into a vibrant symbol of creativity and collaboration. The finished mural is now installed in the back parking lot of the PB Arts Center. Roll your bicycle or stroll by and enjoy this colorful celebration of community spirit—created by neighbors, for neighbors!

Hilary Dufour, together with valued community partners of the PB Arts Center, helped create a meaningful opportunity for community connection. During the Community Paint Day, volunteers gathered to bring Hilary’s original design to life, with her orchestrating a fun and engaging day of creativity.
City Councilmember representative for District 1, Joe LaCava stopped by to admire the artwork, lend a hand with the painting, and offer words of encouragement for the project.

Our heartfelt thanks go to the following businesses for generously donating refreshments: Linda’s Donut Shop, Sandbox Pizza, Mr. Frostie’s, Mission Bagels, Coffee Cycle Roasting, and the Local H2O Store.
We’re also deeply grateful to all the community members who contributed additional snacks, drinks, supplies, tents, chairs, drop cloths, and more.
This project would not have been possible— or nearly as fun—without you!
Thanks to your support, the community can now enjoy a beautiful, vibrant mural that brightens the lot of the Pacific Beach Arts Center and will continue to inspire the heART of Pacific Beach for years to come.
Stay tuned for more opportunities to get involved by subscribing to our monthly newsletter and following us on Instagram . Join us, and together we’ll continue building a vibrant, creative, and connected arts community in Pacific Beach.
BeautifulPB, along with strategic partnerships
has initiated the revitalization of a long-vacant building in the heart of PB. We envision a multipurpose venue, a vibrant hub connecting Pacific Beach residents, surrounding neighborhoods and visitors to art and to each other.
Collaborative funding will allow for affordable art classes, performances, festivals and cultural activities to inspire creativity in an arts-underserved area.
Key collaborations with the Pacific Beach Woman’s Club , San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) and the YMCA will provide geographic and affordable access to experiential and performing arts. LPA Design Studios is providing architectural design services.
This community project will enhance the vibrancy of the venue the surrounding neighborhoods and help build community.
The future home of the PB Arts Center
is the former Pacific Beach Library, a 1950s mid-century modern structure, located on the southeast corner of the PB Middle School campus.
The Center will serve as the gateway to the broader PB Arts District — linking together mural tours, local galleries, arts businesses, and a growing network of artists.
For the first time, there will be a dedicated venue, built upon a decade of community-driven arts initiatives by Beautiful PB.
The Arts Center will:
- Serve as a dynamic space for creation, education, performance and after-school programming
- Foster community connections and well-being through creative expression
- Help to transform PB into a thriving arts district
- Expand access to the arts through affordable pricing and scholarships
- Provide low-cost studio and exhibition space for local and emerging artists
- Celebrate the spirit and diversity of Pacific Beach through regular public events
